In my Medieval history class, we were talking about The Return of Martin Guerre. Tl;dr, a French dude goes missing after some family in-fighting, and upon his return years later, finds an impostor living in his place with his wife. This girl kept asking about why Guerre's wife didn't want to consummate their marriage and actually said, "Was the sexual aspect so terrifying?" She also kept talking about independent women, and women of powerful status.
Hi, this is the MIDDLE AGES we're talking about. Women often didn't find out what sex was until their wedding night, and even then, it's the Middle Ages. We're not talking about the empowering doctrine of a woman's pleasure, sex is for submitting to your husband and making babies. I didn't say anything though, because I'm a wuss and I didn't finish reading the book so I didn't want to get caught in a crossfire about specifics in front of my Professor.
THEN, I noticed my friend's fb status had the word "Jap" in it. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and let him know that it's a racial slur and he might like to change it...to which someone replied, "Or short for Japanese."
In conclusion, D:

I'm sick. I've been sick for five days now, and I haven't gotten worse per se, but I haven't gotten better.
Yesterday I decided I'd be responsible and go to the health center, which was just a refresher course in "why the fuck do we even HAVE a health center." They wouldn't see me immediately, despite being completely empty, because "walk-in hours are from 8 am to 11-30 am" and I couldn't make an appointment because the earliest time they would give me conflicted with a class. The nurse suggested I make an appointment for today, but I a. couldn't guarantee I would need it b. it might conflict with my work schedule and c. I don't want to be charged $25 if I miss it. So she suggested that I come in early in the morning for walk-in hours, which is like, fuck you lady. I have a morning class that conflicts with most of those hours and I already get up at 8:30. I'm not waking up earlier than that while I'm sick to hoof it over to the health center that wouldn't even give me free nyquil.
Entitlement, whatever whatever, but seriously? Apparently it's too expensive to give out free nyquil anymore. I don't know what the fuck my tuition is paying for, because I hear this argument ALL THE TIME.
This wouldn't be such a big deal except that the health center is totally aware of the problems they cause for students with their stupid hours (Closed on weekends? An hour long lunch break every day that overlaps with most everyone's free time, thereby making it nearly impossible to see a nurse before the center closes? What an awesome business plan.) They also have a history of being dicks to me, like the time they told me to "come back later" when I hobbled in on what turned out to be a broken foot I'd been walking around on all weekend because they were closed and I didn't have any transportation.
In conclusion, I'm sick goddamnit and I don't like paying a shit ton of money for a service that is apparently not available to me.

So, Jennifer's Body didn't suck.
I actually liked it. It was creepy and funny, and yes, Megan Fox was super annoying when she wasn't being evil, but I was glad that the message was all around closer to "dealing with bad shit that happens to your friends when they get into that creepy van" than "slut got what she deserved." I liked that Needy had a real relationship even though she was supposed to be the weird girl dealing with a pseudo-crush on her bff. Hell, I even liked the make-out scene, it showed how manipulative Jennifer was.
My biggest problem was Diablo Cody's clumsy attempts at re/creating teenager slang, which are awful. "Boo, you whore" didn't become something that people actually say because Rachel McAdams sounded wooden and awkward while she was saying it, D.
Anyway, I got cinematic proof that Megan Fox is creepy looking (albeit with nice eyebrows), and to blow off working for an evening, so it was an all-around win.
